The company started in 1991 as a computer store and an IT services provider. Since then, Business Computing has been providing a full range of IT services such as consulting, systems design, analysis, development, installation, implementation, training & support to the jewelry manufacturing, wholesale and distribution industries as well as diamond traders and importers.

Our technical staff have undergone rigorous training and Microsoft certification in every facet of the software service they provider. Today, Business Computing serves hundreds of jewelers around the world, is still 100% founder-owned, and is highly profitable.
Our Location
Business Computing is headquartered in the city of Pasadena along the foothills, about 15 minutes north of Los Angeles in the beautiful Southern California with additional offices in India.
Our Solution
From mid 1990s to early 1997, Business Computing sought to develop a basic vertical solution as it was customarily a trend with many software companies in the 1990s. The primary focus was the jewelry industry. Our staff of industry consultants assembled and gathered input from an advisory group of clients and industry experts within the jewelry manufacturing and jewelry distribution industries, to bring the finest in software technology to the precious metals, diamond trading, jewelry manufacturing and the fashion jewelry industries.

The resulting solution – Jewelry Business Management Solution (JMBS) hit the market in the summer of 1997. It was then sold to several small and medium sized jewelers in the Los Angeles area as testing ground. It quickly took off! The success of JMBS and the growing popularity of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions at the time prompted Business Computing CEO Mike Joukhajian to seek a new and a better platform for it. At the dawn of a new millennium, JMBS was re-branded as “e-Jewelry” and re-written into the new ERP platform called Navision, the Danish company which would later develop for Microsoft, the technology for the Microsoft Dynamics NAV enterprise resource planning.

In the summer of 2002, Microsoft purchased Navision for $1.33 billion and re-named it Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Automatically, Business Computing joined the Microsoft Partner Network, e-Jewelry was Microsoft certified and entered the Microsoft Ecosystem which bolstered rich functionality and a seamless integration to Microsoft products. The significance of Microsoft investment into the platform quickly attracted the attention of top jewelers such as Coast Diamond, Simon G, IPPOLITA, Tacori and GN Diamond who quickly moved to purchase the solution. The rest as they say is history!

Of his impeccable timing, the ability to see ahead and a gutsy decision at the turn of the century to re-write and re-brand e-Jewelry into Navision, which was later purchased by Microsoft, Business Computing CEO Mike Joukhajian has simply said “…It is the best business decision I have ever made!”
