The Story

Business Computing (BCI) is a Microsoft Partner and a developer of the jewelry ERP solution – e-Jewelry Software.

At Business Computing, we truly believe that any jewelry business solution should cover jewelry & diamond businesses unique needs without being complicated. Our mission has been to provide software that is intuitive, full-featured, highly integrated, easy to use and easy to upgrade, all while running smoothly for every business, every jeweler, every diamond trader or importer.

To achieve this mission, Business Computing set out to give hundreds of jewelry companies easy access to the software they need, a solution tailored to specific jewelry industry standards in order help them run and expand their businesses.

The Company

Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Pasadena California with additional offices in Pune India mostly for development, Business Computing has grown tremendously to providing a full range of IT services such as consulting, systems design, analysis, development, installation, implementation, training & support to the entire jewelry industry. Today, Business Computing is highly profitable and still growing.

When Business Computing started it's endeavor, the jewelry industry seemed to have lagged behind without a "go- to" jewelry ERP solution. To the task on hand, our staff and industry consultants and experts assembled and gathered input from an advisory group of clients within the jewelry manufacturing and jewelry distribution industries, to bring the finest in software technology to the precious metals, diamond trading, jewelry manufacturing and the fashion jewelry industries.

The Difference

What makes Business Computing different? Unlike the competition, most of which started from scratch or utilized outdated platforms to "create" jewelry software, Business Computing looked to the future as a guide when focusing on developing a go-to jewelry software solution.

The target was small, medium and large size jewelry manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers. This means, our solution was never to start from scratch as a "jewelry software" per se. Why re-inventing the wheel we thought, while reputable enterprise software already exists.

And so the challenge was to pick the right platform. We aimed at picking an ERP from the most successful software company of all time. Enter – Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

The Platform

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Formerly (Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Navision) is the number one mid-range Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software in the world.

Business Central has over 220,000 installations worldwide, some 3.3 Million Users with 43 Global (Language) Localizations. As of 2020, Dynamics 365 has been sold in 196 Countries and is supported by over 4,500 Microsoft Partners worldwide. Dynamics 365 offers an array of business functionality ranging from Finance Management to Sales & Marketing to Manufacturing.

Since no ERP System is built for just one industry, Dynamics 365 was no exception. And so the challenge was to develop specific and unique jewelry and diamond features & functionality that are key to the jewelry industry: Enter The e-Jewelry Add-on.

The Solution

Built on a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central platform, the e-Jewelry line of code addressed all the jewelry and diamond related needs in what we believe to be one of the most innovative and technologically advanced jewelry business management interface. e-Jewelry offers a smooth and friendly user's experience that has been built to ensure the user seamless adoption.

Because it is a Microsoft solution, fluidity and full integration to any piece of software out there covers the needs of even the most complex jewelry companies. The flexibility of e-Jewelry is such that user licenses, add-ons and power apps can be added according to the growth of your company, one user, an add-on or an app at a time as your needs evolve and your customer base grows.

Microsoft Certification

e-Jewelry Add-on is certified by Microsoft for Microsoft Dynamics. The "Certified for Microsoft Dynamics" or (CfMD) Logo to the right represents Microsoft based solutions that have met the highest standards set by Microsoft, telling decision makers that e-Jewelry was developed by a reputable Microsoft Certified Software Vendor.

This certification allows e-Jewelry to became part of the “Microsoft Ecosystem” which bolster rich functionality by making possible a seamless integration to other Microsoft products such as CRM, Business Intelligence, Microsoft 365's office products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. In talking to many of our customers, a majority of them admitted that this certification was an important factor in their decision to purchase e-Jewelry. As of 2019, Microsoft was in the process of phasing out this certification model with a new form of recognition for for it's successful partners and their solutions that will have met it's highest standards.

The Roadmap To The Future

Today, top jewelers as well as diamond traders and importers continue to use e-Jewelry worldwide with a customer base ranging from a mom and pop jewelry store down the street to a 3 billion dollar jewelry company in Europe.

Microsoft has released a roadmap (to the left) outlining the future of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. With this new Microsoft vision which is based on cloud computing, Business Computing now offers e-Jewelry Software on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises and in the cloud at the same time. After pandemic delays, e-Jewelry Software is now going to be available worldwide in the Microsoft App Store for the online version of Microsoft Dynamics 365 starting in the fall of 2022.
